Multicultural Maternal Mental Health Conference

PSI-WI is thrilled to be able to support the Multicultural Maternal Mental Health Conference, “Shades of You, Shades of Me” again this year.
PSI-WI is thrilled to be able to support the Multicultural Maternal Mental Health Conference, “Shades of You, Shades of Me” again this year. With funds that were raised last year through PSI-WI’s Climb Out of the Darkness events we are able to provide a number of participants with full scholarships for the conference this coming October. The “Shades of You, Shades of Me” conference will be held October 22-24 in Milwaukee, WI at the Aloft Hotel.
There will be a hybrid of in person and streamed sessions. The conference was founded by and is led by Shonita Roach. Shonita is an incredible advocate and the Co-Chair of PSI-WI. We are extraordinarily lucky and proud to have her in our state advocating for mothers and families.
We know that People of Color are disproportionately affected by Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders and are more likely to have other complications or death occur in healthcare settings. “Shades of You, Shades of Me” focuses on collaborative conversations about improving quality of multicultural maternal mental healthcare and dismantling stigma for minority populations. Target audiences include licensed mental health professionals and other healthcare providers, university students with interest in mental health, non-profit professionals, social workers, nurses, educators, consumers and their loved ones, maternal mental health advocates, community health organizers and religious leaders. Topics this year will focus on prevention, health care, mental health, business, and education.
If you are a Person of Color and would like to be able to attend the conference, please consider applying for a scholarship from PSI-WI. To do so, please apply here. To be considered, applicants must be residents of Wisconsin and identify as a Person of Color. We are hoping to award scholarships to both providers and peer advocates working with parents, as well as directly to parents themselves.
If you are an organization and would like to help contribute to additional scholarships through PSI-WI, please contact samantha.leibfried@gmail.com for more information or you can contribute directly via PayPal using the email psiwi@postpartum.net. There are also opportunities to be a partner, vendor, or sponsor for the conference. Additional information about the conference and these opportunities can be found at soysom.com.
